Z4045 is a big size outrunner, 40mm stator diameter with a very nice and exlusive design, 3 ball berings is the one feature that sets it apart from most of the other outrunners on the market. The large ball bering supports the rotating bell, this fully supports the bell in both front and back of the motor, this makes the motor go smoth with no osilation or vibration even on high rpm, in some cases this type of design can increase the efficiency up to +- 4% specialy under load, this also reduces magnet and ball bearing faliure, and keeps the motor run smoth when driving big props tru aerobatic rutine. Also this makes it possible to have long stator design as the 4045, 45mm long stator thanks to the 3 ball bearing design, becas of the motors lenght its very important to have a trong motormount!!! |

Z4025-16 can easly match the power of a 90size 2stroke motor or 120size 4 stroke motor, with a maximum recommended power of 2200watts, i think that this motor in burst can be pushed more for 5-10 sec up to 2,5kw. In quality and design this motor can be compared to the very nice Plettenberg Orbit and Kontronik Kora motors, this is the best in quality, performance and design i have seen in a motor made outside of Germany. This motor outperformes the Axis or almost any motor produced outside Germany on the market. This motor can be compared to the Actro 40-5, two very good motors but the actro have higher efficiency and higher power level, but its also more expensive, otherwise they are very simular in performance and size.

Data Z4045-12
As the other Z40 motor, the 4045 proved in tests that it has very good self cooling, pic above shows the cooling holes in both front, back and casing. Performance measurements

Motor nice desig and put togheter with high quality parts, this is the best i have seen in quality on a motor that are produced outside Germany. Stator has god copper fill, there is no rust or damage on the stator as i often notice on motors when taken them apart, high quality Japan NMB ball berings, stator plates done by CNC, rounded magnets and balanced casing. 4045-12 have been powering my SU-31 modell, 1,7m 4,7kg with extreme power and performance, unlimited vertical including rolls and snaps with good speed. Thinking of using this setup in a future 90size F3A plane for outstanding power to weight. Best way in my opinion to mount this motor is to use a standard mount with front suport, stong motorplate is very important, i used Mejzlik carbon plate, fitts perfect. |

Cooling holes on casing, rounded magnets that are glued direct to the casing
suported by "fingers" in the back plate, balanced casing in simular
way as the Plettenberg Orbit motors, nice design with big cooling inletts and
outletts, this motor runns smoth and cool! The one big downside of the Hyperion motors are that there is no efficiency data avalibul from the manufactor, one could ask why!?!? Nice motors as the Hyperion should have efficiency graphs from Dyno tests, so one could setup the perfect powersystem for the motor. Lets hope we get this in future. Maxim efficiency of this motor i think is araound 85%, the good thing is that it doasent drop very much in efficiency when starting to push it. I have also tested the 16c Hyperion Lipo 2x 5s2p 4200mAh battery, 16c continuos and 20c burst power gives this motor high power to weight, On 53Amp load the Hyperion 10s2pp Lipo holds 3,47v/cell with no danger in heat, battery are but togheter nicely with simular quality as the Polyquest battery packs. Setup up to 75Amp bust power in Su-31, 15min of high powered aerobatics, motor gets abaout 60c degrees selsius, Jeti controller and battery barely warm, total power of 2470w, this is the upper limit for the motor, and good cooling is a must for hot summer days. |
