Hyperion

Z2205-38

Hyperion Z2205 motor is a smal size motor that fitts smal indoor planes like the Shockflyer och smal slowflyers. I used this motor to test in YAK Shockflyer on 3s Lipo setup with good performance, the motor is smartly designed with cooling outletts and inletts, axel going out both in front and back of the motor makes it easy to radial mount with a prop adapter. Everyting on this motor speaks high quality, magnets and ballbearings from Japan, all parts in the motor have a nice and tight fitt, the motor have a good axial suport from the ball bearings, magnets are glued nicley with suport from "fingers" in the pack plate of the motor, running the motor on high rpm is no problem, tha housing is well balanced with no wibbrations. Magnets are well atached and stator is in good shape with no rust, as i have seen in many other motors this size.

Smal and compact motor, weight only 29g, this motor looks good both on the outside and inside. The quality can be compared to the Torcman Baby and Causemann 240, Electron 2822 motors... this is very good!

Data Z2205-28

Weight: 29g
Cells:  2-3Lipo
Max efficiency:  (im guessing around 70-72%)
Max recomended current for best efficiency:: 4-7A peak 8A
KV: 1340
Size: 28x33mm
Chaft: 3mm
Rek prop storlek: 2xLi-poly 9x4,7" 3xLipo 8x4,3"
Building specs 38 turn copper wounded by hand, stator dia 22mm lenght 5mm, 12 stator poles, 14 magnet poles, rounden Neodym magnets, Stator plates machined by CNC (no rust or damage)

the motor in performance and quality can be compared by the Electron 28-22-27 motor.

 Performance messurements
8x3,8" APCsf 7,38v 9,17A 7770rpm 67,6w
9x4,7"GWSsf 7,15v 12,06A 6240rpm 86,2w
8x3,8"APCsf 10,43v 14,42A 9540rpm 150,4w

Motor are nicley designed and put togheter with high quality parts, this is the best i have seen in quality on a motor that are produced outside Germany

Overall the stator has a good copper fill, but it could be better, some of the poles have less copper fill as you can see on pic abowe.

Flying

Put this motor in a Shockflyer YAK, in Shockflyers i have tested motors like the Torcman Babys, Causeman 240 and 280, Axi 2204, 2208, Electron 2822, Reutenbergs, RCelectronics, Kontronik Dancers, Typhoons, and now also the Hyperion Z2205, the motor with best performance is the awsome Causemann 240-05-15, the Hyperion have better performance than most of the above motors, but not as good as the Causemann 240. The Hyperion performes better in both bench and inflight than the Axis and much better that the Typhoons. Even when running the Hyperion Z2205-38 on setups to 120watt, its not getting hot, its core after flight araound 45-50 degrees Celsius, the Hyperion have very good self cooling, and with correct setup a high efficiency. 3s FlightPower 400 EVO, Jeti advance 12 plus (hard timing) 8x3,8" APCsf prop and my YAK have outstandig 3D aerobatic performance with no heating problems.

The one big downside of the Hyperion motors are that there is no efficiency data avalibul from the manufactor, one could ask why!?!? nice motors as the Hyperion should have efficiency graphs, so one could setup the perfect powersystem for the motor.
